    How to Add Custom Maps (MLO) in FiveM

    Guide to installing new buildings and interiors for your server

    Adding new maps and buildings (MLO) gives your server a unique feel. The process is simple but requires precise file organization.

      Prepare Map Files

      Ensure the map folder contains a 'stream' directory and an 'fxmanifest.lua' (or resource.lua) file.

      Upload Files

      Upload the entire map folder to your server's 'resources' directory. Creating a [maps] folder to group them is recommended.

      Open 'server.cfg' and add 'ensure map_folder_name'. If you used a group folder [maps], just add 'ensure [maps]'.

      Enter the server and go to the map location to check for any texture or collision issues.

    What is an MLO in FiveM?

    An MLO is a custom interior, such as a police station or a house you can walk into. It ships as stream files (ymap, ytyp, ydr and ytd) inside a resource that you ensure like any other script.

    Why are walls or textures missing in my new map?

    Usually the texture files are too large or another map is placed on the same spot. Check the console for oversized asset warnings, compress big ytd files, and make sure two maps do not edit the same area.

    Do custom maps slow down the server?

    Maps mostly load on the players' side, so the cost is download size and client FPS rather than server CPU. Keep the number of large maps reasonable and compress textures so players join faster.

    Two maps conflict at the same location. What can I do?

    Keep only one of them, or ask the author for a version without the overlapping ymap. Removing only some files of a map usually leaves holes or floating objects.
